Meet the Doctors at Gravenhurst Chiropractic & Acupuncture Centre
Meet Dr. Kelly McIntosh
Making a Change to Chiropractic
During her first year of university, Dr. Kelly was studying both biochemistry and Grade 10 Royal Conservatory of Music in piano. “It was a very tough juggling act, with a heavy science load and a demanding music schedule that required at least two hours of practicing per day. It was during this time that my own health care needs erupted.”
Dr. Kelly had repetitive strain injuries of the arms, hands and neck, which eventually led to headaches. It was then that she was introduced to the wonders of chiropractic care.
A fantastic new graduate, Dr. Paula, took me under her wing, and opened my eyes to a career possibility that I never knew existed.

Blending Art and Science
After successfully completing her Grade 10 RCM examinations in piano, Dr. Kelly realized that she had a difficult and potentially life-changing decision to make. She had to choose between the arts and the sciences, as each now required her sole attention. “Music had been my passion since the age of 4. It was, and still is, very much a part of my soul. But I was at the point of choosing a musical career in either performance or teaching. Or, delving entirely into the sciences and working toward a career in chiropractic, which was also of great interest to me.”
Keeping Busy Outside the Practice
Outside of the clinic, Dr. Kelly and her husband Dr. Mike stay busy with their two daughters. Dr. Kelly enjoys yoga at the Gravenhurst YMCA, and personal training sessions at Body by Design.

Meet Dr. Michael Mekis
Seeking a Solution for a Soccer Injury
I intended on being a health care professional from a young age, knowing I wanted a career focused on helping people. After an injury playing soccer, numerous health providers told me my knee would get better on its own, or to take medication.
~ Dr. Mike
Dr. Mike’s chiropractor, however, took a thorough history and gave him a comprehensive examination. “Then, I received a diagnosis and treatment plan to get me on the road to recovery. A number of treatments followed involving pain management and rehabilitation.
Chiropractic care got Dr. Mike on the soccer field in time to finish the season and win the league championship.
Bringing Natural Healing to the Gravenhurst Community
Dr. Mike attended the University of Windsor, earning an honours degree in Human Kinetics with a concentration in Movement Science. Then, he went on to the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College, where he completed four years of intensive study, including one year of clinical internship. Continuing with the education path to bring optimal care to his patients, Dr. Mike became a licensed Acupuncture provider in 2006, a certified spinal decompression practitioner in 2008, and a certified sports therapy taping practitioner in 2018.

Staying Active in Gravenhurst
When he’s not at the practice, Dr. Mike likes exercising and interacting with the community through his membership at the Gravenhurst YMCA.
“I work out daily at 5:45 a.m. and believe regular exercise is good for the mind, body and soul.” Adding that to a balanced diet and regular chiropractic care allows him to function better and feel his best.
