Massage Therapy in Gravenhurst

At the age of 8, I was diagnosed with scoliosis. This resulted in a great deal of muscular imbalance and discomfort for me, especially as I grew. And so began my introduction to the many types of health care, including chiropractic care and massage therapy. Both types of care helped me immensely, and contributed to my success in competitive sports, like dance. It therefore came as no surprise to my family and friends when I announced my desire to become a registered massage therapist!
Massage Therapy Education and Training
I began my studies in 2007 at Georgian College in Barrie in the Pre-Health Science Program. Upon completion, I applied and enrolled in the three year Massage Therapy Program and graduated in 2011. Throughout the course of my studies, I encountered those with neuromuscular disorders, fibromyalgia, cancer, and those with physical and mental disabilities. I also massaged pregnant women, infants, and children. My goal is to pursue further training in acupuncture and therapeutic ultrasound so that I can further my knowledge and provide additional services to my clients.
Gravenhurst Chiropractic and Acupuncture Centre
In October 2011, I joined the team at Gravenhurst Chiropractic and Acupuncture Centre. I have received a warm welcome by both staff and patients alike, while also gaining exposure to a variety of musculoskeletal conditions.
What to Expect
In addition to receiving a massage treatment, the initial visit also involves a detailed assessment in order to help better define your needs and goals. Afterwards, I review our visit and formulate a customized treatment plan which often includes self-care tips, stretches, and/or exercises. My goal is to help you function and perform to the best of your ability in work, life and play. Let me show you how!
On a Personal Note
I am a member of several local athletic groups, including the Muskoka Ladies Softball League, Snap fitness, and Women's Volleyball. I also danced at Just 4 Kicks Academy of Dance for 11 years and hope to return now that I am finished my education. In my free time, I enjoy outdoor activities and anything that keeps me active.
